George and Amal Clooney Win the Award for Most Thoughtful Couple of the Year
While Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell have proved that they’re the most relatable couple of 2017, match made in heaven George Clooney and Amal Clooney secured their “power couple of the year” status with several recent revelations by friends.
While recently traveling to England with their colicky, 6-month-old twins, the couple thoughtfully handed out numerous pairs of noise-canceling headphones to their first class seat mates to get ahead of the curve. Multiple outlets, including E! News, obtained a photo of the couple’s letter to their in-flight seat mates, which read: “Our twins just discovered SQUAWKING!! Hope this helps make the flight a little quieter.”
The headphones—Casamigos-branded of course—were reportedly handed to fellow flight passenger Quentin Tarantino, who gladly used them.
The sweet gesture was made the same week that George’s business partner, Casamigos co-founder Rande Gerber, opened up to MSNBC about the couple’s dynamic together. Months before meeting the gorgeous lawyer, George rallied his friends—a group of 14 guys known as “The Boys”—for a get-together at his home. “George had called me and ‘The Boys’ and said, ‘Hey, mark September 27, 2013 on your calendar. Everyone’s going to come to my house for dinner,'” Gerber, who’s married to Cindy Crawford, told MSNBC’s Headliners.
When the friends arrived, they noticed 14 black luxury suitcases. The actor told his longtime friends (according to Gerber): “’Listen, I want you guys to know how much you’ve meant to me and how much you mean to me in my life. I came to L.A., I slept on your couch. I’m so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn’t be where I am today without all of you. So, it was really important to me that while we’re still all here together, that I give back. So I want you all to open your suitcases.’”
Inside each suitcase was $1 million—but there’s more. The actor also paid his friends’ taxes. “This is who George is,” Gerber said. Thankfully, the universe rewarded Clooney’s kind gesture rather quickly. Exactly a year later, Clooney married Amal following a whirlwind courtship on September 27, 2014.
“Now, that’s good karma right there,” Gerber concluded.
