GBI investigating shooting death of Millen, Ga. man

MILLEN, Ga. (WJBF) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investing the shooting death of 39-year-old Robert Lamar Herrington, of Millen.

According to authorities, GBI was brought in to investigate this shooting death at the request of the Millen Police Department.

According to the Millen Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting on Corbett Street, and when officers arrived, Herrington was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities say Herrington was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, a second man was also shot in the incident and was sent to a local hospital for treatment, but later, he was life-flighted to a hospital in Augusta where he is currently listed in stable condition.

According to GBI, preliminary information indicates that Herrington and the other man who was shot were involved in an earlier argument which escalated and resulted in them shooting each other.

Herrington’s body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy, and authorities state that this investigation is active and ongoing.
