Gas up a penny across N.L. in latest price adjustment

Newfoundland and Labrador's Public Utilities Board increased by the maximum price of gasoline by one cent per litre on Thursday.

The change puts the maximum price a retailer on the Avalon Peninsula can charge at $1.827 per litre. Elsewhere in Newfoundland prices range between $1.83 to nearly $2 in the La Poile area, while prices in Labrador range between $1.77 and $2.15 per litre.

The price of diesel increased by 0.6 cents across much of the province, but decreased by 4.3 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Prices for the fuel now range between $1.80 and $1.92 per litre in Newfoundland and between $2.01 and $2.59 per litre in Labrador.

Furnace oil increased by 0.45 cents per litre, meaning customers on the island will pay between $1.15 and $1.33 per litre depending on their location.

Stove oil increased by the same amount across Newfoundland, but decreased by 5.14 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Prices for the fuel now range between $1.20 and $1.38 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.38 and $1.95 per litre in Labrador.

Propane saw the smallest amount of movement, down 0.2 cents per litre. Customers in Newfoundland will now pay a maximum price between $0.94 and $1.07 per litre, while customers in Labrador will pay between $0.80 and $1.25 per litre.
