Here Are All the Games You'll Get With a PlayStation Classic

We are now accepting applications for fools to wreck in Tekken 3.

Last month, Sony announced that they would jump into the retro-novelty console game with the PlayStation Classic, a miniature replica of the very first PlayStation, complete with two controllers and a list of 20 games preloaded onto the system. What games would be on the system was a mystery at the time, with only five announced and fifteen to be announced. On Monday, Sony announced those games, and while they almost certainly left out your favorite game, the list itself ain't all that bad.

Here's what you'll get:

Battle Arena Toshinden

Cool Boarders 2

Destruction Derby

Final Fantasy VII

Grand Theft Auto

Intelligent Qube

Jumping Flash!

Metal Gear Solid

Mr. Driller

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Rayman

Resident Evil Director's Cut

Revelations: Persona

Ridge Racer Type 4

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

Syphon Filter

Tekken 3

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six

Twisted Metal

Wild Arms

It's a solid list, but not necessarily one that'll set fans on fire. You've got three big favorites—Final Fantasy VII (which honestly you can get on most major consoles these days), Resident Evil, and Metal Gear Solid, a couple of respected classics like Tekken 3 and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Then there are a few lesser-known games that should be in a collection like this, the kind of stuff you might have missed in the '90s but might be worth revisiting now, like Intelligent Qube, Revelation: Persona, and Wild Arms.

And then there's the big-name games that are probably not as good as you remember, or at least as good as there more famous sequels. Like, trust me, you are not going to enjoy the original Grand Theft Auto, and I have a pretty good hunch that you'll think Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six is taking up a slot that's better occupied by... just about anything else. Which will bum you out in time, because like the throwback consoles released by Nintendo, there's no indication that there will be a way to update or add to the PlayStation Classic's library, and at $99.99, you've got to be legitimately into most of the games here for it to feel worth it.

The PlayStation Classic drops on December 3, 2018. Pre-order before it sells out at Gamestop or Best Buy.
