GALLERY: Knox City residents share their experience of ‘very scary’ tornado
KNOX CITY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Storms last Saturday night left many residents in Knox County with damaged homes, vehicles, storage units, and more debris in the aftermath of what once was called a “life threatening tornado” by official resources.
Confirmed Tornado spotted in Knox City
Houses along 5th Street took in damage a the tornado-turned hail storm. Coby Logs from Knox City said he felt it firsthand.
“The whole pressure changed and, like, the wind started sucking into the sky, and I was like, ‘I’m pretty sure a tornado just dropped down right in town,'” Logs recalled. “The damage I saw, of course; a lot of branches were blown apart. There was a shed that blew up over in an alleyway over there, a bunch of downed power lines, broken poles, a lot of scattered debris.”
Many houses also lost power, leaving residents like James Vasquez to be fearful of his wife’s health as she relies upon a dialysis machine.
“I was trying to figure out how to get her with power until I remembered, ‘well, we have the manual dialysis machine, you know, the stand and everything,'” Vasquez told KTAB/KRBC. “It was a very scary storm. I mean, usually we just wait it out, you know, but we have to get in a room without no windows. That tells you something.”
The National Weather Service has not yet audited these damages.
