Fugitive accused of assaulting officer in MA found in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two fugitives, one of whom was wanted for the alleged aggravated assault of a police officer in Massachusetts, were found Monday morning in Jamestown.

Not long before 8:30 a.m., police in the city say they stopped a vehicle in the area of Foote Avenue near Harrison. They say it had an illegal window tint.

Both the driver, 28-year-old New Jersey resident Damani Riley, and 27-year-old passenger Roger Herivaux of Brooklyn gave police false names during the stop, they said.

Police said Herivaux was wanted in Massachusetts, while Riley was being sought by the U.S. Marshals Service for violating probation. According to police, both were wanted in connection with fraud cases. They’ve since been charged with false personation and being fugitives from justice.

As a result of the investigation, officers seized more than $7,300 in cash. Herivaux and Riley were both jailed in Jamestown pending arraignment.
