Perry died at his home in October of last year aged 54. An autopsy later confirmed that Perry's death was an "accident" caused by the "acute effects of ketamine".

The post-mortem examination carried out by the Los Angeles County medical examiner added that contributing factors to his death included drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine (a drug used to treat opioid use disorder).

Perry had previously been open about his battles with addiction, including sharing that his Friends co-stars had tried to stage an intervention.
