Friday Outlook: Cloudy, spotty showers, mid-70 temps around Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Friday will finish off the work week with mostly cloudy skies and slightly cooler temperatures as spotty showers move in. Clouds build this morning ahead of an approaching warm front from the south. That has given us a warmer start this morning with temperatures sitting in the mid to upper 50s and low 60s.

Our mountains will start off in the 40s this morning with showers more likely for the higher elevations than uptown. Look for winds to mainly flow out of the east-northeast as High pressure sits off to our north over New England.

Temperatures peak in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees today around the Queen City while mountain counties only reach the mid-50s. Rain should be relatively light today and spotty in nature as moisture rolls into the Carolinas.

We can see a stray shower or two impact the higher elevations with some of that rain tracking towards the Queen City this afternoon and evening. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 50s before a warming trend takes hold this weekend. Saturday hits the mid to upper 70s with clouds breaking up.

We’ll hit 80 degrees by Sunday to finish off the weekend and stay well above normal heading into early next week. Look to see low to mid 80s take hold before rain and storm chances move in heading into Tuesday & Wednesday of next week.

Today: Mostly Cloudy & Comfortable. High: 69.

Tonight: Partly Cloudy & Cool. Low: 57.
