These Fresno State students are volunteering for their Spring Break

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Dozens of Fresno State students spent part of their Spring Break giving back to the community in Fresno.

As part of Fresno State’s “Alternative Spring Break” program, students have the opportunity to volunteer at three different Fresno locations: the Poverello House, Stone Soup Fresno and Scout Island.

At Poverello House, 17 students volunteered to “prep and serve” food there. They say they enjoy the interaction and helping people in need.

“Volunteering is what makes our community,” said student Mone Rocha. “If you haven’t done it, I would say definitely try it out. You never know, you might find something that you like, and it’s just a small part that we can do to make our community better for everyone.”

Approximately 50 students participated in the Alternative Spring Break program.
