Fresno alleyway fight leads to shooting, 1 in critical

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two men were hospitalized, one of whom is in critical condition, following a shooting in Fresno on Tuesday, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Police say around 5:30 p.m. they responded to an alleyway near Fairmont and Holt Avenues after receiving calls regarding two victims of a shooting.

Preliminary investigation revealed two victims were standing in an alleyway with another group. For reasons yet to be determined, officers say a physical altercation ensued and two people were shot.

Investigators say the older victim was shot in the upper body and hospitalized in critical condition. The younger victim was shot in the lower body and self-transported to the hospital but did not sustain critical injuries.

Detectives say it is unknown if the victims lived in the area, their relationship with each other, or the circumstances leading up to the fight.

Police say the roads will be shut down as they continue to gather evidence and conduct their investigation.

This is the same area where a man was shot while in his car and eventually died on April 27.
