Free Kia anti-theft upgrades in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS – Starting today in downtown St. Louis, Kia owners can receive free anti-theft software upgrades at a special event near Busch Stadium, aimed at making Kia vehicles less attractive to thieves. The upgrade station, marked by a tent with Kia flags, is located along 4th Street between Poplar and Cerre Streets.
This initiative comes in response to a surge in Kia thefts in St. Louis and across the country, fueled by social media videos showing how to steal certain models. The increase in thefts has been significant, with St. Louis city and county authorities reporting ten times the usual number of stolen Kia and Hyundai vehicles in 2022, many of which were used in other crimes.

To combat this, Kia America has partnered with local dealerships—Lou Fusz Kia, Suntrup Kia, and Jim Butler Kia—to offer these upgrades, which take about half an hour to install. After the upgrade, a decal will be placed on the windshield to further deter theft.
The upgrades are available Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Busch Stadium lot, and on Sunday at Chesterfield Mall from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary to receive this service. Kia has been rolling out these upgrades in various cities nationwide as part of their efforts to protect vehicle owners.
