Free E-waste disposal begins in Sedgwick County

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Free electronic waste disposal is happening today through Sunday and again next weekend in Sedgwick County.

The Sedgwick County Environmental Resources Department is collecting E-waste free of charge at the Sedgwick County West Yard in southwest Wichita. You can dispose of household items, including:

  • Computers

  • Laptops

  • Printers

  • Television sets

  • Cell phones

  • Batteries (terminals must be taped)

  • Tablets

  • E-readers

  • VCR/DVR/DVD players

  • Blu-ray players

  • Network devices (i.e., routers, hubs, modems)

  • Peripheral components (i.e., hard drives, keyboards, mice, cables, cords, CD-ROMs, circuit boards, power supplies)

  • Pagers

  • PDA

  • Phones

  • Scanners

  • Fax-machines

  • Digital converter boxes

  • Cable/satellite receivers

  • Portable music player

  • Audio-visual equipment

  • Video games

All components with hard drives/memory will be destroyed and can’t be recovered.

The free disposal is open for Sedgwick County residents and businesses. The E-Waste collection event is on April 18-20 and 25-27 at the West Yard, 4701 S. West St.
