Frederick Restaurant Week kicks off with new element

FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) — This year, Frederick’s Restaurant Week is expanding the week of tasty foods to an extra week of opportunity for restaurants and other businesses.

Frederick Restaurant Week started on March 2 and will last up until March 16.

“The Downtown Frederick Partnership was looking for a way to expand the event and get other businesses involved” Marketing Manager, Brittany Himber said. “Especially because in downtown Frederick we have such a big craft beverage scene.”

This was the reason behind “Bites and Bevs,” where the first week is the same restaurant week, but the second week is what brings something different.

“It’s a new format that has the second week which is collab week, and it’s offering unique events and week long specials with restaurants, beverage establishments and local businesses that usually wouldn’t be able to participate,” Himber said.

Washington County tries to lower rate of chronic absenteeism

Brewers’ Alley is one of the 21 businesses participating. Co-owner Greg Brown says collaborating with Pasta Palette for their second week could elevate his business even more.

“It could be a great collaboration where we can collaborate with a business that’s right in Downtown Frederick with us,” Brown said. “Our guests might see pasta dishes on our menu that are coming from the Pasta Palette, which is a win for them and also a win for our business.”

The extra week also helps by giving time to try new things with customers.

“The timing is perfect,” Brown continued. “The sun is starting to come out and we generally use it as an opportunity to showcase some of the new items that we’re going to have on our spring menu.”
