Four-vehicle pileup closes portion of Fulton Road in Jackson Township

JACKSON TWP. – A Jackson Township police officer and other motorists suffered minor injuries in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash Tuesday on Fulton Road at Fox Chase Avenue, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The patrol said a 38-year-old man was driving westbound at 5:19 p.m. on Fulton in a 2011 Ford Edge when he collided with the back of a stopped 2018 Hyundai Elantra, which forced it into a stopped 2016 Fiat 500X and a Jackson Township cruiser.

The Fiat came to rest on the roof of the Hyundai, the patrol said.

The police officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Aultman Hospital by Jackson Township EMS. The other drivers and a passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Edge was cited for distracted driving, failure to wear a seat belt and assured cleared distance. (Editor's note: This story has been updated to correct that the driver of the Ford Edge was cited.)

Fulton Road was closed for about an hour and a half. The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
