Four arrested on drug and gun charges in Assumption Parish
PLATTENVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested four people from East Baton Rouge Parish after a traffic stop on Saturday, April 13.
APSO said that a deputy executed a traffic stop after seeing a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 70 East. The people in the car were identified as Cameron Charles Johnson, Jeron Jervell Brooks, Jermaine Rocarrado Scott and Anthony Jerome Thomas Jr.
The sheriff’s office said, “Deputies noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the suspect vehicle.”
During a search of the car, deputies found “in excess of 100 grams of suspected marijuana as well as a large caliber firearm,” according to APSO. Drug paraphernalia was also seized.
Deputies believe that the suspects got rid of a gun while the traffic stop was being attempted, APSO said.

Johnson, 26, of Zachary was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of firearms in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, obstruction of justice, aggravated flight from an officer, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.
Brooks, 27, of Baker was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Scott, 23, of Baton Rouge was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
Thomas, 21, of Baton Rouge was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
All were booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.
