Fort Walton Beach Police: Niceville man dead after crash involving motorcycle, sport utility vehicle

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Fort Walton Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating after a Niceville man was killed on Saturday in a crash involving a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle.

According to a release, the Fort Walton Beach Police Department responded to the intersection of State Road 189 (Beal Parkway) and Hollywood Boulevard around 4:53 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, after receiving reports of a vehicle crash with injuries.

CRASH LOCATION:

When officers arrived they found the crash involved a gray Honda motorcycle and an orange Hyundai sport utility vehicle.

Investigations indicate that the motorcycle, driven by Justin Harcum of Niceville, was traveling northbound on State Road 189 when it collided with the Hyundai as Narcum turned from State Road 189 onto Hollywood Boulevard to travel east.

Although civilians and medical professionals attempted to save him, Harcum was pronounced dead by medical staff at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital.

The man driving the Hyundai was taken to the same hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash and was later released.

The Fort Walton Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating, the release said. Anyone with information relating to the crash is asked to contact MPO M. Montgomery at 850-833-9546.
