Fort Smith police: Officer’s vehicle struck cyclist in crash

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Fort Smith police responded to a vehicle-pedestrian accident involving a police vehicle, according to the department.

The accident occurred near South 20th Street and Rogers Avenue near Northside High School.

Aric Mitchell with the department said witnesses told police the cyclist was not using the crosswalk when they were struck by the vehicle.

Mitchell said the cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
