Former Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office recruiter accused of smuggling drugs into jail is arrested

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A former Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office recruiter was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the Orleans Justice Center.
According to the OPSO, 33-year-old Courtney Wicker was arrested following an investigation by the OPSO Investigative Services Bureau.
Wicker was hired at the OPSO in April 2023 as a deputy recruit assigned to the Orleans Justice Center.

OPSO investigators said Wicker allegedly acknowledged delivering Suboxone Sublingual Film to a detainee in December 2023 in exchange for $2,000. She also allegedly admitted to being in possession of a package she intended to deliver for another detainee at the OJC on Monday, March 18, 2024, for a payment of $5,000.
“I commend the work of the detectives in our Investigative Services Bureau and reaffirm this agency’s commitment to rooting out wrongdoing within the department,” said Sheriff Susan Hutson.
Wicker faces charges of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and malfeasance in office.
