Former First Lady Barbara Bush is in "failing health" and is no longer seeking additional medical treatment, Jim McGrath, a family spokesman said on Sunday.

"Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care," McGrath wrote on Twitter.

The 92-year-old, who is married to former President George Bush Sr., and is mother to former President George Bush Jr., has been in and out of hospitals during the last year.

According to CNN, she has been battling with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) and congestive heart failure.

Upon hearing the news, people everywhere have been sending their thoughts and prayers to the Bush family.
