Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern Illinois

ST. LOUIS – The National Weather Service of St. Louis has extended tornado watches for much of the area until 3 a.m., and the severe threat continues until 4 a.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Jackson, Williamson, Franklin, Perry, Perry counties until 4:45 a.m.

The first round of storms arrived around 5 p.m. bringing hail, strong winds, and radar showed some cloud rotation.

A second round of severe storms brought more widespread severe weather than the first. Hail, high inds, and a tornado were spotted. The severe weather went into early Tuesday morning.

There was a confirmed large tornado north of Springfield, MO. This storm energy is rolling toward eastern Missouri.

While the main storm threat moves out late Monday night, showers and some rumbles of thunder will linger into Tuesday. Breezy and cooler with highs in the upper 50s. Windy and chilly Wednesday. It looks sunny for the Cardinals home opener, but breezy and cool.
