Food safety workshop to be held by Christian Co. Health Dept.

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — There are only a few days left to register for the Christian County Health Department’s Second Annual Food Safety Workshop on March 27.

The workshop will feature speakers from several county health departments, as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health, talking about topics related to food safety. It is open to anyone, including current food establishments or those interested in opening one.

There will be two sessions: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. It will take place at the University of Illinois Extension Office at 1120 North Webster Street in Taylorville.

High-risk establishments that attend this workshop will be able to waive their last inspection of the year, so long as they are in good standing from previous inspections.

“It is always important to continually learn how to best protect the public from food borne illness,” Christian County Public Health Administrator Dr. Chad Anderson said. “This workshop is a great way for food establishments to learn methods to protect the public, learn new and updated policies and ways to strive to be better. The Christian County Health Department is committed to helping our food establishments grow their knowledge and be an educational resource.”

To register, call the Christian County Health Department at 217-824-4113 by March 22.
