Fly to Italy or Spain for $368 Round-trip This Spring

A European vacation might be just what you need after the holiday frenzy.

If you’re dreaming of an affordable European getaway, now is the time to grab your ticket.

Right now, you can book cheap flights from major U.S. airports to Spain or Italy for super low fares. Most tickets include quick connections, or even nonstop flights if you’re coming from New York City.

According to Thrifty Traveler, fares to both destinations are available between January and May of 2018 on airlines such as Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Swiss, and United Airlines.

Flights to Italy land in both Rome as well as Naples, while tickets to Spain are available to Madrid, Ibiza, Barcelona, and Majorca. Currently, the cheapest fare is from Dallas to Madrid in mid-April at $368 round-trip, followed by flights from Charlotte to Spain, Atlanta to Italy, and Washington, D.C. to both destinations.

With so many places to go in Spain, you’ll have a number of vacation options, from admiring the works of Picasso and Gaudí in Barcelona to exploring the rugged seaside cities of Majorca.

Travelers can also find affordable flights to Spain and Italy originating in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Los Angeles, Oakland, Ontario, San Francisco, Santa Ana, San Jose, and West Palm Beach.

Nonstop flights from the New York City area to Italy begin at $460 round-trip, while flights to Spain start at $482 from John F. Kennedy International Airport.

If you do happen to choose Rome as your vacation destination, Thrifty Traveler suggests taking the Leonardo Express train from the airport to Rome Termini. It only costs €14 and gets you to the city center in 30 minutes. That leaves you more time for fun things to do like visiting galleries, the Colosseum, and the Quartiere San Lorenzo.

To find the best flights to Italy or Spain from your departure city, use Google Flights to spot the most affordable days to travel — listed in green — on the low-fare calendar. Then, enter your selected dates into a metasearch engine like Momondo to compare prices and find even cheaper tickets from third-party retailers.

If you’re looking for flights later in the year, you can also set airfare alerts to try and score a better deal during your preferred travel dates.
