CLEVELAND (WJW) — The full Flower Moon of May reaches peak Illumination at 9:53 A.M. on Thursday, May 23.

So, head outdoors on the nights of May 22 and May 23 to try and get the best view of the Full Flower Moon — if Mother Nature cooperates.

The full moon names used by “The Old Farmer’s Almanac” are derived from Native American, Colonial American, and European sources.

“Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, not solely to the full Moon,” according to the The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

May’s Flower Moon name is quite fitting, “flowers spring forth across North America in abundance this month!” according to the almanac.
