Floridians can vote to undo Supreme Court's misguided decision reversing Roe v. Wade

Opponents of abortion rejoiced when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, putting reproductive rights in the hands of the states. In the year following the ruling, 14 states made abortion illegal.

Undo abortion decision with Florida vote

In a perfect world there would never be the need for another abortion. This is one of the most medically and emotionally consequential decisions a woman will ever make.

In 1973, a Supreme Court much less partisan than today’s version recognized that this deeply personal decision is not one that should be made by strangers in robes but by an individual with advice from her physician and her family.

This firmly held precedent was recognized, despite multiple challenges, until June 2022 when a different Supreme Court, packed with partisan zealots, decided that they knew better than any individual, family member or physician what is best for a woman’s health and well-being.

This misguided and selfish decision has resulted in many states following the court’s lead and passing draconian laws that have resulted in physicians in states like Texas and Alabama being afraid to save their patients’ lives in complicated pregnancies for fear of being prosecuted and jailed.

In response to these draconian decisions being foisted on our citizens, voters in Florida have collected nearly 1 million signatures to add a measure to the November ballot that would guarantee a woman autonomy over her own body.

Please vote “Yes” in November.

Hospital board candidate speaks out

I am writing to address the recent allegations and misinformation that have been circulating about my stance and the other candidates represented as the Medical Freedom Slate running for the Sarasota Memorial hospital board, specifically regarding the privatization of our local hospital.

I want to emphasize that I am unequivocally against privatizing our hospital.

As a member of the Medical Freedom Slate, my commitment lies in advocating for the rights and choices of individuals when it comes to health care decisions. I firmly believe in the importance of accessible and affordable health care for all members of our community.

Venice resident Tanya Parus filed to run for Central District Seat 1 on the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board.

It is disheartening to see the allegations suggesting our slate is pushing for privatization; they are baseless and misleading.

As a candidate for the hospital board in Sarasota County, my goal is to work collaboratively with fellow board members and health care professionals to enhance the quality of care, improve patient outcomes and strengthen the overall health care system in our community.

I believe in transparency, accountability and the importance of listening to the concerns and needs of our residents.

I am dedicated to upholding the values of the Medical Freedom Slate and serving the best interests of our community. I encourage you to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or concerns about my stance on health care or any other issues related to the hospital board.

I am here to address any doubts or misconceptions and engage in constructive dialogue.

Get facts straight about Israel, Hamas

The misinformation directed at us about the Israeli-Hamas war is very concerning.

Unfortunately, young idealistic people have taken it in hook, line and sinker. Their ignorance of history is quite alarming.

Here are some facts they should consider.

  • Hamas invaded Israel on Oct. 7, viciously murdered 1,200 civilians and took another 250 as hostages. It is believed that about 100 remain.

  • Israel retaliated to eliminate the Hamas terrorists.

  • Hamas hides out in schools, hospitals and tunnels, putting civilians in grave danger.

  • The Arabs rejected three two-state solutions, in 1947, 2000 and 2008, because they didn’t want Israel to exist.

  • The charter of Hamas declares that “the Zionist entity” (Israel) is illegitimate and should be obliterated.

  • The Jewish people have lived in the land that is now Israel for more than 3,000 years, so they are not colonizers.

  • Israel was formally declared a state in the aftermath of World War II, just as Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon were started after World War I.

  • Israel is a democracy and America’s best partner in the Mideast. It is the tip of the spear for us. The extreme left should not impose its agenda on our relationship with Israel.

No such thing as debt ‘forgiveness’

Would someone please tell President Joe Biden that there is no such thing as student debt forgiveness?

Maybe he thinks the debt just magically disappears. He doesn’t know that he is just shifting the burden of paying those debts to the American taxpayers!

Protesters gather outside the Supreme Court on Feb. 28, 2023, ahead of the oral arguments in cases that challenge President Joe Biden's $400 billion student loan forgiveness plan. That June, a majority of justices ruled on ideological lines that the Biden administration overstepped its power.

Whatever way you want to look at it, we are paying for Biden giving away our tax dollars and/or buying votes.

So please, President Biden, stop calling it “forgiveness.” We don’t live in a socialist society yet. Sound fair?

McDaniel denied Biden won election

The letter April 7, “Firing GOP figure exposes media bias,” missed the point.

NBC released Ronna McDaniel because for nearly four years she denied that President Joe Biden won the 2020 election fair and square – and finally admitted he had done so only when her political fortunes changed.

She belongs at Fox News.
