First Responder Friday: Darryl Ford

SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — It’s time for another edition of First Responder Friday as News13 honors Grand Strand and Pee Dee first responders.

This week’s nominee is Capt. Darryl Ford with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.

Prior to working for the sheriff’s office, Ford served his country in the military. He completed his military service in 1994 and went on to work for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

He began working at the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office in 2016 as a school resource officer. He was promoted to captain in February 2023.

Those close to him say he’s frequently found in schools across the county, not just as a resource officer, but as a role model. He encourages, motivates, listens to and mentors students.

If you would like to nominate someone for First Responder Friday, send an email to NEWS@WBTW.COM. Tell us why you chose that person and attach a photo.
