The First Photo of Robert Redford and Jane Fonda Reuniting for Their New Netflix Movie Is Perfection
Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are reuniting 50 years after their first film together, Barefoot in the Park. Netflix just released a sneak peek at the pair's next project, the 2017 original film, Our Souls at Night.
The movie is based on the novel of the same name about a woman named Addie Moore, played by Fonda, who connects with her neighbor, Louis Waters (Redford), after their spouses die. The duo are longtime neighbors in a small Colorado town, but, now that their children have moved away, they find reason to establish a connection.
Fonda and Redford have been friends for decades, after filming '60s films Barefoot in the Park and The Chase and 1979's The Electric Horseman.
When recalling a scene in their new film in which they take a trip out of their small town to check into a Denver hotel, Fonda tells Entertainment Weekly: "I nudged [Redford] with my elbow, and I said, 'Duh, Barefoot in the Park, Bob! Because suddenly I felt so girlish and I realized I was nudging him to be less serious, just like I do in that film. And just like the way I do with him in real life."
She tells the outlet of their longtime friendship, "We show up for each other. We always have."
