This is the new fire station coming to Friant

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The new Fire Department in Friant was announced by Fire Chief Dustin Hail on Wednesday during a groundbreaking ceremony.

Chief Dustin says this is the first building that will be built from the ground in about 20 to 30 years.

The Fire Department says the project will begin in a few weeks and is expected to be completed by late spring 2025.

“Fire Station 72 is more than just a building. It represents our commitment to enhancing the safety and well-being of our public,” said Hail.

Fire Station 72 will be located on Morningside and Millerton Roads and will serve the Friant and Millerton areas.

“This also ensures that we can provide a quicker and more efficient emergency response to the lake emergencies that we do have across the street. With this new facility, we are better equipped to protect the natural beauty of the military lake and the surrounding wildlife, which are precious assets to our community. So, some of the features of Fire Station 72, it will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources to support our firefighters and their mission to save lives and property,” said Hail.

Officials, including County Supervisor Nathan Magsig, were at the event.

He says even though there are some financial struggles, investing in the community is important.

“A fire station like this is so necessary right now just to make sure that our streets remain safe and people can have the highest level of protection possible,” said Magsig.

The Fire Department says this station will have lots of resources and some will be available to the community sometime in 2025.

“The station will include modern living quarters, workout facilities, and environmentally sustainable design elements. It will serve as a community center for the Fire Safety Education, where residents can learn fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and as well as other safety measures,” said Hail.
