Fire sparks at vacant house on Dale Avenue in Roanoke, causes $25k in damages

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Fire Marshal’s Office is working to learn what caused a fire to ignite at a vacant house in Roanoke late Thursday night.

According to the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department, just before midnight on April 25, units were called to the 1200 block of Dale Avenue SE.

Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke coming from a vacant house. First responders entered the home and determined the structure was not safe.

Large fire at recycling center in Franklin County under investigation

As a result, firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze from outside the home.

The department says no one was hurt. Fire officials determined the fire caused about $25,000 in damages.
