Fire official: Murrysville volunteer suffers heat exhaustion while battling house fire
Apr. 21—A Murrysville firefighter was taken by ambulance for treatment of heat exhaustion Friday while battling a blaze that caused minor damage to a home along Cole Road in Murrysville.
That's according to Cody Paiano, deputy chief with the neighboring Sardis Volunteer Fire Department.
The Murrysville volunteer's condition wasn't immediately available.
The fire was reported after 3:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Cole Road.
Flames are believed to have spread accidentally to a rear porch of the two-story, wood-frame house after a cigarette was discarded in a flower pot, Paiano said.
"There was very minor damage," he said. "It was all kept to the exterior of the home."
Firefighters cleared the scene in just under an hour, Paiano said.
Fire crews from Sardis and Murrysville were assisted by firefighters from White Valley and Export.
