Fire at Kinder Morgan chemical plant in Galena Park injures 3, officials say
GALENA PARK, Texas - Three people were injured during a chemical plant flash fire in Galena Park on Friday, officials say.
The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office says their HAZMAT and investigations teams are supporting the Galena Park Fire Department in their response at Kinder Morgan in the 1500 block of Clinton.
Officials say the fire is not active. However, those injured were taken to the hospital.
Kinder Morgan gave FOX 26 this statement:
Earlier today, Kinder Morgan’s Galena Park facility in Galena Park, Texas experienced a flash fire while conducting planned maintenance work near one of its rail racks. The fire was immediately extinguished, and three injured third-party contractors are being treated at a local hospital. All Kinder Morgan personnel are accounted for. At this time, the impacted portion of the rail rack remains isolated and shut down. Local emergency responders are on site. No product has been released as a result of this incident. All appropriate regulatory agencies have been notified. An investigation into the cause of the incident will be conducted, and we currently do not expect any customer impacts.
