Filling Easter baskets with candy in Hanover Township

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With Easter on Sunday, candy shops are also busy.

Many rush to Michael Mootz Candies to get fresh candy to fill their Easter baskets.

Owner Jason Mootz is a fourth-generation candy maker who took over the family business that’s been serving sweets since 1975.

They have some unique candy for this easter season, like a 30-pound candy bunny named Babs and a little shorter one that is about 20 pounds.

“Everybody kind of wants to wait right till the end, get really fresh candy. We’re making our products, like, as we speak, we’re, we’re, you know, hand to mouth trying to make sure that our shelves stay really full the whole time, but all the product is as fresh as possible. So, we really are producing right up till the final minute to make sure everybody gets what they’re looking for,” Mootz explained.

Easter Monday, Michael Mootz Candies will have a half-price sale to clear off the shelves.
