Filing underway for school board elections

May 24—ANDERSON — Candidates wanting to run for positions on local school boards have until June 20 to file their declarations of candidacy.

Seats will be open for election in November in all of the local school districts.

The Anderson Community Schools board has three open seats, including in Central District 1, currently held by Pete Lyons, who was appointed when Carrie Bale resigned last year. Ted Bitner has filed for the position.

The East District 1 seat is up for election, where Holly Renz is completing her third term. Kenneth Hodson is the incumbent in the South District 1 seat.

There are four seats up for election on the South Madison Community Schools Corp. board.

Seats in Adams, Fall Creek and Green townships are up for board election, along with an at-large position.

Incumbent John Lord has filed for re-election in Green Township after replacing Chris Boots.

Incumbent Angie Brown is running for re-election to the at-large position, and incumbent Mike Hanna is seeking another term in Fall Creek Township.

There are three seats up for election in the Alexandria Community schools.

The District 1 seat is currently held by Amy Bair; Carrie Rowland currently represents District 4 and Diana Sayre is the at-large member.

There are four positions up for election on the Frankton-Lapel school board.

Michael Rusche is the current member in Stony Creek Township; Randy Cunningham is serving from Jackson Township; Melissa Duncan currently represents Lafayette Township and Tami Bailey-Davis is the Pipe Creek Township member.

The Green Township seat is up for election on the Madison-Grant school board, where Rodney Tobias is the current member. Mary Jo Brunt is the Boone Township member and Amanda Kelich represents Duck Creek Township.
