Fight on Hillsborough County dock leads to murder, deputies say

RUSKIN, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County deputies arrested a man for allegedly murdering someone in Ruskin Saturday night, the sheriff’s office said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said at about 6:37 p.m., deputies were called to the 500 block of Bahia Beach Boulevard for a reported shooting.

However, instead of finding evidence of a shooting, deputies learned that someone fell into the water at Bahia Beach. Divers were called to the scene and found a man dead inside of the water.

According to investigators, the man was killed in a fight with Kamal Padlowski, 50, after being on a boat with him.

The sheriff’s office said during their fight, Padlowski followed the victim onto the dock and pushed him, causing him to hit his head.

Deputies said the suspect then pushed the victim into the water.

“This tragic incident highlights the severe consequences that can arise from acts of violence, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to ensuring justice is served, and we will continue to investigate this case thoroughly.”

Padlowski has been charged with second-degree murder. The sheriff’s office said it is still working to notify the victim’s next of kin.
