Felon found slumped in running vehicle arrested on weapons charges

(KRON) — A convicted felon who was found by Rohnert Park officers slumped over in his vehicle at a gas station was arrested on weapons charges Tuesday night, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

Rohnert Park DPS officers were called to make a welfare check on the driver, who was slumped over in the vehicle. When authorities contacted the driver in the vehicle, which was still running, officers noticed spent ammunition casing on the windshield, the department said.

In questioning the driver, officers learned there was a loaded firearm in the vehicle, Rohnert Park DPS said. A pair of brass knuckles was also located in the suspect’s pants pocket during a patdown.

The firearm was found in the center console of the vehicle, according to the department.

The driver was arrested for felon in possession of a loaded firearm and for possession of brass knuckles.
