Fayetteville School Board accepting member applicants

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Fayetteville Public Schools Board of Education is looking for a replacement for one of its at-large positions.

The president of the board Nika Waitsman says that it’s one of two at-large positions. The replacement will fill the seat until the election in 2026.

She says board members are happy with the amount of applicants. They are looking for someone with a passion for public education and volunteerism.

“That level of understanding that it is a volunteer role that, honestly, the more you’re willing to put into it, the more you get out of it, personally, but also the more our district benefits,” Waitsman said.

Waitsman says the board is discussing the 11 applicants in a closed meeting on April 19.

The board will then interview applicants before making a selection after the April 25 board meeting.
