This Family Wins Birthdays With Their 'Game of Thrones' Photo Shoot
Remember getting dragged to the mall in matching outfits for that annual family photo? Well, the Tilkin family has no time for that.
Wim Tilkin, a dad of two, had something special in mind to commemorate his 50th birthday, so he had his family travel to their favorite vacation spot in Cornwall, England to pose for photos as characters inspired by Game of Thrones, the HBO show the while family loves.
But Tilkin didn't stop there. He actually devised his own characters and a storyline in the style of George R.R. Martin for his family to act out. He even grew out his beard for nine months in preparation for his character Goron's debut. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Tilkin said, "People at work started to see me as a strange wildling and ignored me."
The shoot was dubbed "The Goron Chronicles," and the family commissioned Belgium-based photographer Laura Sheridan, of Sheridan's Art, for the series. They even had armor by Mytholon and makeup artist Kika Von Macabre along for the ride to make the battle costumes, injuries, and corresponding scars look as realistic as possible (talk about commitment!).
Here, Goron is summoned by his king to fight evil forces threatening their kingdom.

When Goron succeeds and returns home a hero, the jealous king sends a with with dark magic to seduce Goron.
The king's plan succeeds, and Goron turns against his people.
Haunted by his betrayal, he decides to slay the witch.
He battles the witch and (spoiler alert), Goron wins!
This dad is so extra. Hey, HBO, if that spin-off isn't plotted out yet, I think Tilkin did it for you.
