UPDATE: Atlanta teen returns home after family believed she was trafficking victim

An Atlanta family is relieved after a 16-year-old they feared could be a trafficking victim returned home Saturday evening, the family confirmed to Channel 2 Action News.

Mekiya Smith was reported missing after she was last seen getting into a red Lyft after leaving Coretta Scott King Academy on Friday afternoon.

Channel 2 Action News contacted the Atlanta Police Department to confirm the teen was no longer missing, however, the department said the investigation remains active at this time.
