Fairmount man charged with criminal sexual abuse on minor

FAIRMOUNT, Ill. (WCIA) — A Fairmount man has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

According to a document from the Vermilion County State’s Attorney, 63-year-old Edward Cheuvront has been charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. All 4 counts are class 2 felonies.

Edward Cheuvront is listed as a board member on the Village of Fairmount website.

The document alleges Cheuvront performed sex acts on the victim, now 17 years old, on at least four separate incidents; two involving Cheuvront fondling the victim’s genitalia and two involving Cheuvront putting his mouth on the victim’s genitalia. The incidents took place between Summer 2022 and April 2024.

The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Cheuvront was arrested April 16.

Court records show Cheuvront’s first day in court for the case was April 17, and was allowed pre-trial release on April 18.
