‘Fairly dangerous situation’: Several agencies respond to house fire on Tanner Point Drive

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Several agencies are responding to a fire on Tanner Point Drive, according to a Moores Mill Volunteer Fire Department (MMVFD) spokesperson.

Agencies responded to the report of a fire at about 5:05 p.m.

MMVFD Spokesperson Ethan Fitzgerald said there was one house on fire, and that it was a fairly dangerous situation due to ammo boxes and propane tanks at the scene. That house is a total loss.

People were able to get out of the house quickly, MMVFD said. Fitzgerald said one person with minor injuries was treated on scene and no transportation was need, and no firefighters were injured.

Two neighboring homes had heat damage and minor melting. The fire also spread to a yard behind the house before responders stopped it from spreading.

Fitzgerald added that a situation like this can be incredibly tense due to the volunteer fire departments’ small staff and equipment, but they did a good job putting out the fire quickly.

MMVFD is responding alongside HEMSI, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Central Volunteer Fire/EMS and New Market Volunteer Fire Department.
