Facebook may be experiencing server outages, as indicated by a surge in user reports online on Tuesday (April 16) morning.

If you are having trouble logging on to the social networking site, you are not alone. According to Downdetector, a jump in reports of issues accessing Facebook began around 5am on Tuesday.

These reports marked a hundredfold increase compared with the usual level of reporting.

The site said half of the issues related to the Facebook app, with only 18 per cent stemming from the web version. Of course, this could also indicate how people use the social network these days.

We’ve had no issue accessing the Facebook website, but a look at posts on X shows what may be the root of the problem.

Many users have complained their feeds are empty and free of posts or pictures.

“I am unable to see my posts, it says "no post available”,” wrote X (formerly Twitter) user Priyanka Pati.

“All of my Facebook posts are deleted. Any idea what's going on?” wrote user mkarag.

We have approached a Meta representative for further information on the situation.
