‘He’s all in my face’: Man attacked on Bronx bus with screwdriver speaks out

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police are on the hunt for a man accused of stabbing another man with a screwdriver on a Bronx bus Monday afternoon.

The attack happened on the Bx22 bus in Fordham Center around 2 p.m., according to authorities. The victim, 60-year-old Derick Gardner, told PIX11 News that the suspect was sitting next to him.

Gardner said the man was annoyed by his humming of a church song and became aggressive.

“He’s all in my face with it,” Gardner said. “Next thing you know, that’s when he started attacking me with a screwdriver.”

The flat head of the screwdriver was plunged into Gardner’s head, he told PIX11 News. The suspect then bolted off the bus, Gardner said.

Gardner is now recovering with two staples in his head. He said he’s taken the bus all his life and won’t stop now.

“Watch your back… be safe and God bless,” Gardner said.
