What to expect as thousands ride into Myrtle Beach for the 2024 Bike Rally

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The 2024 Spring Bike Rally kicks off Friday and will go until May 19.

Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the event. Spring Bike Rally event coordinator, Bill Barber, say they have the best band lineup they’ve ever had, this year.

“We have bands all week,” Barber said. “Both stages going nonstop starting at noon and the way until 2 in the morning inside, we have to stop at 11 outside.”

Officials with the rally say every year gets bigger and better.

“A lot of motorcycles, a lot of concerts, a lot of everything going on here, all along the rally area, 50 miles of rally area, up and down the coast, it’s going to be a big time this year.”

The Chairman of the Bike Rally Promotions Committee, Spider Webb, says right now, they don’t know how many bikers will be in attendance, but they are expecting hundreds of thousands of people.

“Last year it started with two hundred and some thousand people coming into the area and rose to maybe about three hundred thousand visitors,” Webb said.

Webb said because of the heavy crowds during this week, their number one priority is public safety and encourages both drivers and riders to be more alert.

Barber agreed with Webb.

“If we see somebody that’s going to leave our premises and they’ve been overserved, we don’t let them go, we buy them a cab and send them home safely,” Barber said.

Barber said they also have state troopers for security reasons, and to help direct traffic and parking. This year, more restaurants and bars along the coast are opening their arms to the bikers.

Barber said many events and rides will help raise funds for several charities.

He added his favorite part is seeing his work family.

“We see each other twice a year and then if I go to Daytona or Sturgis or whatever, I see them,” Barber said. “We’re traveling, working people. People come and help us and get to see our family and make new friends and see old friends.”

Webb says everybody is invited to the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally, every year, spring or fall.
