Ex-Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates announces baby news

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates has announced some baby news, confirming he is once again an uncle.
The DJ, presenter and filmmaker posted on Instagram to announce the news, sharing a photo as he locked hands with his baby nephew.
“And the family grows by one. Again.” wrote Yates in the caption. “Fully in my Uncle era after baby #13. Before you ask, yes, I’ll be wearing linen and sandals all summer and no, he’s not mine. Again.”

Yates, who left Radio 1 in December 2012, received several messages of congratulations upon the announcement, with fellow ex-Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman writing: “Huge congrats Reg, to you and the family xxxx”
Following his stint on Radio 1, Yates ventured into television presenting with stints on The Voice UK and Prized Apart, before trying his hand at filmmaking with his feature debut in 2021, Pirates.
Yates wrote and directed the comedy that followed three friends, played by Elliot Edusah, Reda Elazouar and Jordan Peters, as they embark on a madcap evening to attend a New Year’s Eve party.
The 90s-set comedy featured homages to the garage music scene, with Edusah revealing exclusively to Digital Spy that Yates gave the central trio the room to improvise during filming.

“I naturally crack silly jokes or say the wrong thing and get away with it and Reggie just allowed us to be funny,” he revealed. There was a lot of improvisation and creativity. I know he [Yates] was going through his own things in lockdown, we all were.
“But we could WhatsApp or call him anytime. He even took us to Richard Curtis's beach house for a couple of days before filming. That's where we really bonded… Reggie's efforts made us want to go above and beyond for this project.”
