Last we heard from former North Carolina representative Madison Cawthorn, he had just been caught driving on a revoked license for a second time. He’d been pulled over three times in five months. The credibly accused sex pest who also had a habit of trying to take guns through airport security apparently hasn’t gotten any better at driving since he lost his primary and was voted out of office, though, as it appears he recently rear-ended a Florida highway patrol car, sending one officer to the hospital.

The Miami Herald reports that the crash took place along Interstate 75 between Naples and Fort Lauderdale. Cawthorn was reportedly driving a 2021 Mercedes that appears to be a C-Class coupe when he rear-ended the officer in a construction zone. While the police report on the incident didn’t mention Cawthorn by name, witness to the crash Althea Shapiro posted a video of the aftermath naming Cawthorn and showing a man in a wheelchair who looks exactly like him.

According to Shapiro, was tailgating her “relentlessly” prior to the crash, writing:

I have to navigate around his car and I look ahead to see the officer exiting from his rear ended vehicle holding his neck in the left lane as well. I pulled over to the right shoulder lane and stopped to ask if everyone was ok and to offer assistance. I couldnt believe my eyes. It occured to me that former CONGRESSMAN CAWTHORNE from NC was the black CAR that stormed by me in an angry road rage tantrum.

The police only identified the driver as a 28-year-old from Cape Coral, Florida, which matches Cawthorn’s age and residence. The officer he hit reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

We’d say we hope this wreck teaches Cawthorn a lesson, but based on his driving record, odds are, nothing is going to change.
