Even more summer concerts announced for SLO County. Here’s who is coming
The weather is getting nicer, and with it, a whole new slew of San Luis Obispo County concert acts have been announced.
Additional grandstand acts at the Mid-State Fair and lineups for this year’s music festivals are among the latest highlights.
Here’s who is expected to perform this summer:
TLC, Shaggy to perform at Mid-State Fair
On Monday, the California Mid-State Fair announced another act coming to Paso Robles this summer.
Girl group TLC and dancehall artist Shaggy will take to the Chumash Grandstand Arena stage July 25, with opener DJ Flashback.
Formed in Atlanta in 1990, TLC was responsible for iconic hits like “Waterfalls” — which won “Video of the Year” at the MTV Music Awards, making them the first Black act to win the award.
To date, TLC has sold 85 million records worldwide, had four No. 1 singles in the United States, 10 Top Ten singles, four Grammy awards, five MTV awards, five Soul Train awards, and four multi-platinum selling albums, according to a news release from the Mid-State Fair.
Shaggy is known as the only diamond-selling dancehall artist in music history and has sold more than 40 million album units to date, according to the release. He has also won two Grammy awards, had eight singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and had seven albums on the Billboard 200.
Ticket prices for the show are $50, $60, $75 and $85 and will go on sale Friday.
This year, the Mid-State Fair has a new program called “Local Fan of the Fair” that will allow registered local residents early access to purchase tickets. For more information on registering, visit MidStateFair.com.
The 2024 California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles runs July 17-28.
Other announced acts are country artists Zac Brown Band on July 21, Jelly Roll on July 23 and rock band Nickelback on July 24.
Who is performing at Shabang 2024?
Marking the 10th anniversary of the annual blowout music festival, Shabang has a large lineup of acts scheduled to take the stage in San Luis Obispo this May.
Sixteen acts are on the lineup for May 3, including Peach Pit, Noizu, LF System, Sun Room, Joy Again, Nala and Wilt. The next day will feature performances by Thundercat, Sidepiece, Walker & Royce, The Walters, Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners, Kaleena Zanders, Kate Bollinger, Silver Panda, Jackie Hollander, DJ Mandy, Couch Dog and earthship, among other acts.

This year also marks the first time Shabang will allow attendees to camp on the festival grounds overnight.
Shabang runs May 3 and 4. Tickets are available at shabangslo.com/tickets. Prices range from $139 for a single day, general admission pass to $359 for a two-day VIP pass. Camping passes are also available, starting at $75.
Headline acts announced for Live Oak Music Festival
The 36th annual live Oak Music Festival is set to once again take over El Chorro Regional Park in San Luis Obispo this upcoming Father’s Day weekend.
“Live Oak 2024 marks a triumphant return to our cherished Father’s Day weekend,” KCBX General Manager Frank Lanzone said in a news release. “It’s a tradition we’re thrilled to uphold, offering three days of exceptional music and festivities.”
The festival acts as a fundraiser for KCBX Public Radio and includes a “diverse range of musical genres.”
To date, two headliners have been announced: Grammy-winning progressive bluegrass band Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway will take the stage on June 14; and Americana singer-songwriter John Craigie with The Coffis Brothers will perform June 16, according to the release.
The lineup also includes other acts such as John Craigie, The Soul Rebels, Moon Hooch, Trish Toledo, Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Young Dubliners, Jesse Dayton and more. A full lineup is available on the Live Oak website.
Tickets for the festival are currently available for purchase, with options for full festival access with camping privileges or single-day passes. Adult ticket prices range from $60 for Friday attendance to $165 for an full festival pass. Children and teen tickets are available at a discounted rate.
Camping passes are available starting at $95.
Festival Mozaic to hold summer concert series
San Luis Obispo’s preeminent classical music festival, Festival Mozaic, is set to take place July 18-27.
“For over 50 years, each summer and throughout the year in the heart of California’s Central Coast, Festival Mozaic brings together the finest musicians from around the world and music lovers near and far to enjoy premier concerts and events in a festive and stimulating atmosphere,” the organization said in an announcement Feb. 26.
Planned performances include Baroque in the Vines on July 20, Quarteto Nuevo on July 21, Tim Bluhm and The Coffis Brothers on July 25 and an orchestra concert on July 27, as well as numerous chamber concerts throughout.
Donors of $2,000 or more are eligible to purchase a Festival Experience Package that includes all 12 Mainstage events. The packages must be purchased by phone at 805-781-3009.
Single event tickets will go on sale April 15.
The Head and the Heart, Vulfpeck to headline Whale Rock Music Festival
To end the summer, Whale Rock Music Festival will once again return to the North County on Sept. 14 and 15. The 11th annual festival will be hosted by winery Castoro Cellars, with benefits going to Templeton music education, according to a news release.
Headliners will be indie rockers The Head and the Heart and the critically acclaimed groove masters, Vulfpeck.
Other acts include Allison Russell, Theo Katzman, ALO, Cool Cool Cool, Dustbowl Revival, Jackie Venson, Rainbow Girls, Broken Compass Bluegrass, Sam Chase & the Untraditional, Late for the Train, Max MacLaury, Samba Loca, Brass Mash, and a battle of the bands contest winner yet to be announced.
Daily schedules will be announced at a later date, according to the release.
Tickets are currently on sale at the festival’s website, with prices ranging between $95 for a single-day pass to $150 for a two-day pass. Children age 4 and under are free, and ages 5-12 cost $10. Teen tickets are also available at a discounted rate.
