Escaped bull captured in St. Charles Co., and now adopted

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities in St. Charles County finally wrangled an escaped bull on Wednesday afternoon. Now, ‘Clem’ the bull will live out his life on a ranch.

Clem received his nickname from neighbors while sharing video of the bovine running through yards trying to avoid animal control.

“They called us and said they needed a bull caught and we came,” Riley Looney said.

Animal control said the bull escaped after a tractor trailer accident Thursday evening on I-70. The bull spent several days sneaking across yards and making his way up a nearby creek. The bull’s great escape ended Wednesday near a Lowe’s parking lot.

“He’s not happy. I’d say he’s definitely not happy,” Looney said.

Looney and Ian Sneed drove two hours to help animal control capture the bull. They work with livestock every day but said Wednesday’s experience was different.

“Most of it is not in a subdivision or a Lowe’s parking lot. Most of ours is out in the country,” Looney said.

Sneed was able to lasso the bull’s head.

“Just lots of practice. Been doing it a long time. Just practice, practice,” said Sneed.

Video shows the bull thrashing around as the pair worked to get him in a trailer.

As of Wednesday evening, Looney has officially adopted Clem. He will be bringing him back to his farm in Poplar Bluff.
