EPSO recovers moving truck worth of stolen mail

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said it had to use multiple vehicles including a moving truck to recover stolen items following the arrest of an alleged mail thief who was operating in the Meridian Ranch and Woodmen Hills neighborhoods.

According to EPSO, 40-year-old Adam Turner was arrested on Tuesday, May 21 after more than a year of investigation into his alleged crimes. EPSO said the investigation began in January of 2023, and detectives were able to identify Turner as a suspect based on information from a family member of one of the victims.

The suspect was linked to a multitude of victims involving thefts from community mailboxes in El Paso County and several more in Parker, Colorado.

During a search warrant at Turner’s home, EPSO said detectives found stolen mail, makeshift mailbox keys, narcotics, cash, designer jewelry, luxury timepieces, and other stored boxed merchandise. The also found stolen license plates and vehicle registrations, guns, and hundreds of tools and toolboxes.

“The number of recovered items was so extensive it required assets from the EPSO Evidence Unit, a rental moving truck, two vans, and four tow trucks to transport everything to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Facility,” said EPSO in a press release.
