Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made an appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Monday. The politician, who represents New York’s 14th congressional district, spoke about the new student debt relief program, which she personally worked on.

For her appearance, Ocasio-Cortez fashioned a Tahari ASL blazer and pants with a cream shirt. The blazer featured notch lapels and a turnlock closure on the front in a metallic hue with geometric shape. The lined blazer also featured long sleeves with button cuffs and shoulder pads. She accessorized the look with minimal jewelry and a pair of dark-toned shoes.

This isn’t the first time Ocasio-Cortez has worn this ensemble. While speaking at a rally outside of the Democratic National Committee headquarters on Nov. 19, 2020, in Washington, D.C., the politician, known popularly by her initials AOC, wore the same suit.

Ocasio-Cortez has made appearances on late-night talk shows in the past, finding new ways to reach voters and discuss policy. In April 2023, the U.S. representative fashioned all-black attire for her appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” She wore a black midi dress with a mock neckline and side slits.

Aside from her late-night talk show appearances, there is one notable fashion statement Ocasio-Cortez has made. At the 2021 Met Gala, Ocasio-Cortez wore a mermaid-style gown designed by Aurora James, the Brother Vellies and Fifteen Percent Pledge founder, which read “Tax the Rich” in bold red lettering on the back. The look was so widely discussed that in April 2023 Google revealed the dress was one of the most-searched Met Gala looks.

Following her appearance at the 2021 Met Gala, the Committee on Ethics launched an investigation into AOC’s attendance. “Though no ethics violation has been found, the Office of Congressional Ethics did identify that there were delays in paying vendors for costs associated with the Congresswoman’s attendance at the Met Gala,” the representative’s attorney David Mitrani of Sandler, Reiff, Lamb, Rosenstein & Birkenstock LLC said in an email to the Committee on Ethics’ staff director and chief counsel Tom Rust. “The Congresswoman finds these delays unacceptable, and she has taken several steps to ensure nothing of this nature will ever happen again.”
