(WFRV) – Many viewers were upset Sunday night after tuning in to Billy Joel’s concert and seeing it be abruptly interrupted towards the end of the performance.

The “Billy Joel: The 100th – Live at Madison Square Garden” was set to air on WFRV at 8:00 p.m. central time.

The concert was enjoyed by many, however, the show was interrupted by the start of local news during Joel’s performance of “Piano Man” leaving many upset.

WFRV and CBS are both aware of the issue that took place with Local Five’s general manager putting forth the following statement:

Last night viewers enjoying the Billy Joel concert were justifiably upset when the concert was cut short at a critical moment. CBS confirms there was a technical error on the network side that caused this to happen. While this mistake was outside the control of WFRV-TV, we apologize to our viewers for the error.

WFRV General Manager Jud Beck

CBS also made an official statement and added that they will be rebroadcasting the concert on Friday, April 19 at 8:00 p.m. central time.

A network programming timing error ended last night’s Billy Joel special approximately two minutes early in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. We apologize to Mr. Joel, his fans, our affiliated stations, and our audience whose viewing experience was interrupted during the last song. Due to the overwhelming demand from his legion of fans, BILLY JOEL: THE 100TH – LIVE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN will be rebroadcast in its entirety on CBS on April 19th at 9:00 P.M.
