Emmerdale has cast Casualty and Waterloo Road star Christine Tremarco for an upcoming storyline involving Kim Tate and her husband Will Taylor.

Tremarco will make her on-screen debut later this month as the character of Rose, who has recently been living abroad in Benidorm and is already known to Will.

Rose's arrival will ruffle feathers between the couple after Will fails to mention to his wife that he knows the bolshy and boisterous new arrival.

Kim and Will's marriage has faced strain in the past couple of months after Kim was forced to admit to her husband that she left villainous Craig Reed to die last year, with their relationship struggling to get back on track since.

Could Rose's arrival spell serious trouble for Kim and Will?

Speaking about her casting, Tremarco said: "I am thrilled to be joining Emmerdale! To be working with such a wonderful cast and crew along with the brilliant writing and production team is an absolute joy!

"Rose is so much fun to play. She is free-spirited, boisterous and totally mischievous with a steely edge and a big heart."

"We are massively delighted to welcome Christine Tremarco to the Emmerdale family," producer Laura Shaw added.

She continued: "Christine brings a wealth of experience and talent and playing the character of Rose – a true free spirit with an exuberant outlook on life – she certainly promises to cause a real storm for some of our villagers."

Tremarco is best known for her role as Linda Andrews in the BBC medical drama Casualty, appearing as a series regular between 2010 and 2013. She also appeared in a one-off episode back in 2003.

She also appeared in Waterloo Road as Davina Shackleton from 2007 to 2009; her other TV credits include Kidnapped, Clink and The Responder.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
